Today I went to buy some pork from the stand where I've been buying it. The usual cost is 3,600 shillings per kilo, less than a dollar a pound.
Today I thought the guy selling it said 4,000 shillings per kilo. It looked a bit more lean than usual, so I didn't question the price. I asked for two kilos. (By the time I cut off all the fat, it's not that much.) He said 7,200 shillings. I corrected what I thought was an error and said, "Don't you mean 8,000 shillings?"
He in turn said, "Sister I wouldn't cheat you, it's 7,200 shillings."
I know this guy is poor because I've been to his house and he has a bunch of kids. He could have used the few extra shillings. Still, he's honest.
I was impressed. I'll buy from him again.

Hi Sis Judy!
It's nice reading the blog. I think if you were a writer you could write a pretty funny book. I like your writing style.
I did as you suggested and went on freecylce.com and will be picking up a vacuum cleaner, a couch and an entertainment center Friday and Saturday. Someone was selling an IKEA Sofa for $50 (from the chicago reader) so I will be picking that up as well. I love freecycle!
The kids are ok and they miss you too. Your boyfriend especially wants to know where you are and how you're doing. If he remembers no one else, he remembers "Oh Great Sis. Judy Who Held Me All The Time." You'll love him. He's a riot and very intelligent. He loves numbers and hates reading. Why am I not surprised?
Mykyia is a 15 year old trapped in an 8 year old's body. Well, at least that's how she acts. Now Bryzhane has a partner in crime when it comes to the dramatic I'm getting the short-end of the stick act. Everything isn't fair, no one likes me, boo hoo, waa waa. You know the usual. They both love books like a fat kid who loves candy but get along the least in the house. That doesn't surprise me either.
My family, however, can't get over how much Mykyia looks and acts like Bry'Chell. She even has Bry'Chell's hair texture but much thicker. Once I get the house settled I'm taking Bryzhane and Mykyia to the doctor's office to get a prescription for their heads. I'm sure they have the same thing Bry'Chell had.
Akasha may have a lisp. Which I'm not worried about. We've been working on the letters and stuff and she's doing ok. I think she's conscious of the way she talks so she doesn't participate much in class. I was told that she's pretty quiet and that she's opening up slowly but surely. She'll be ok.
I posted a comment to Bry'Chell's blog as well.
Well, I'll post a comment every now and again to let you know how everything is going here. By the way, have you talked to Andre? Let me know if you do.
Take care and until next time!
Tiffany
